Sitting Around Waiting to be a Genius

An eclectic mix of life, travel, creative writing and interesting film trivia. This is not simply a description of this blog and what it shall contain but what I hope one day to read printed next to a large, grinning picture myself in the G2. By which time I hope I shall not only be intellectually brilliant and intrinsically fascinating but also plump and greying and slightly reminiscent of Zoe Wanamaker in the Harry Potter films. A slightly ambitious and over specific dream this may be but what do we graduates have in these times of unemployment and inflation but an unwavering belief that eventually, if we try hard enough, things will get better.
I’m sure it’s obvious from my blog title alone that I am one of the many humanities students who graduated recently with a decent degree who feels a certain level of chagrin to find themselves now trapped in a minimum wage service industry job. When I left university I thought that soon the tools of my trade would be critical thinking and the deftly wielded written word not coffee beans and an endless supply of tepid milk.
Still, no one ever said the great game of life would be an easy one to win and though I may not be able to voice my opinions in any published magazine, while I continue to have a brain unsaturated by caffeine I can find my platform here, in my brand new blog. So here we go, I ask you, my patient reader, to be gentle with me while I try things out and change the name twice a day and rant about menial things, but 2012, my second year out of university, is to be my year of adventure and I hope to have some exciting things to tell you before long. Oh and I’ll be reviewing lots of films and books along the way.
